The Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges took the following actions at its July 11-12, 2005, meeting:

  • Special Presentation (Item 1) (070105) Presented the John W. Rice Award for Equity and Diversity to Abel Nunez and Charles E. West.

  • Minutes (Item 2) (070205) Approved the minutes of the May 2-3, 2005, meeting of the Board of Governors.

  • 2005-06 System Budget (Item 3.1) (070305) Directed the Chancellor to send a letter of appreciation to the Governor for the system budget; Directed the Chancellor to inform Senator Scott of the Board's support for using SB 794 as a vehicle for restoring the Career Technical Education funding of $37.4 million.

  • Positions on State Legislation (Item 4.1) (070405) Reaffirmed its positions on the following legislation. Directed the Chancellor to inform the Governor of the Board's position and its support for his signing AB 982.

    AB 982 (Laird) Support

  • Approval of Contracts and Grants (Item 9) (070505) Approved the contracts and grants, as presented.

  • Revisions to the Procedures and Standing Orders of the Board of Governors (Item 10) (070605) Approved the proposed Revisions, with the following modifications:

    Section 41. Delete revisions.
    Section 1. Add "classified staff" after "faculty"
    in first line.

  • Resolution on Compton Community College Trustee (Item 11) (070705) Approved Resolution 2005-01 on suspension of the Compton Community College District Board of Trustees and appointment of a Special Trustee, as presented.
