committee advises the California Community College Chancellor's Office to assist
in promoting professional, curriculum and partnership development to recognized
business industry standards; recommends funding priorities, strengthens coordination
and collaboration with the state's education reform and workforce preparation
efforts; promotes strategic planning and greater funding stability; assists the
state in assuring that community college vocational and technical education programs
are responsive to industry standards and consumer needs and adhere to federal
and state policies; and, strengthens existing linkages to the Academic Senate,
Regional Consortia and appropriate vocational and technical education and/or business
and industry associations. | |

Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Committee acts as the platform for developing

students; prepare students for nontraditional traning and employment opportunities;
and, support partnerships among business, industry, labor, government, K-16, non-governmental

and helps provide a communication link to business and industry regarding community
college programs and services throughout the California. | |

input to the Chancellor's Office in regards to the needs and direction of the
public safety profession. This committee maintains a close liasion with the Chancellor's
Office to assure that the community colleges provide the training and education
necessary to meet these needs. As industry needs change, they are evaluated and
eventually integrated to the respective curriculum. This will guarantee that we
can place students in the industry with skills that can assure their success. | |

and Accountability Position

all committees are concerned with program evaluation, this committee has as its
primary function research, accountability, and evaluation. The Research and Accountability
Advisory Committee was responsible for the development of the recommended community
college core indicators and levels of performance included in Chapter 5 of the
2000-2004 California State Plan for Vocational and Technical Education. It also
advises on designs and implements core indicator program level reports that facilitate
local planning and continuous program improvement. | |

Carl D. Perkins Vocational-Technical Education Act of 1998 requires that states
and local districts address the needs of special population students. This committee
maintains a close liasion with the Chancellor's Office to assure that the community
colleges provide the training and education necessary to meet the needs of special
