As a
result of reform legislation, Assembly Bill 1725 (1988), the
issuance of credentials was discontinued in 1990. With the
passage of this legislation, a system of "Minimum
Qualifications" was established to determine a person's
eligibility for academic positions in the community college
system based on their education and experience. (You can view
that document by clicking on the above link.)
Holders of valid community college life credentials
retain the right to serve under the terms of their credential,
and are considered to meet the statewide minimum qualifications
for all academic positions in their subject matter areas (Education
Code Section 87355).
The System Office maintains archives regarding
issuance of community college credentials. Our service is
for those whose credential is lost, damaged, or stolen. We
can only accept a request from the holder of the credential.
No third party requests. The holder must provide us with the
information listed below to initiate a search of the records
and provide a "letter of verification" to the holder
if there is sufficient information on file. The records are
not automated and are archived offsite Verification can take
up to 8 weeks to process.
Please be aware that limited duration credentials
with expiration dates CANNOT be renewed or made permanent.
Also, name changes can no longer be made on credential records.
To initiate the search process, the requestor
will provide the following information and either fax or mail
