The Academic
Affairs Division of the Chancellor's Office is responsible
for providing state-level design and review of community college
curriculum and instructional support activities. The division
is committed to providing leadership and technical assistance
to enhance the capacity of the community colleges in the areas
of academic planning, approval, and review of credit degrees
and certificates; distance learning; basic skills/ESL literacy;
credit/noncredit adult and continuing education, flex calendar,
minimum qualifications, transfer, articulation, and middle
college high school.

Responsible for providing policy recommendations
to the Board of Governors (BOG) and Consultation; provides
leadership and oversight for all division activities including
curriculum approvals, economic development, workforce
preparation, vocational education, distance learning,
basic skills/ESL, credit/noncredit literacy, global education,
special project management, systemwide technical assistance
delivery, flex calendar, minimum qualifications, transfer,
articulation, and middle college high school. |

The intersegmental Relations unit works closely with the other sectors of education, including the California Department of Education (K-12), the University of California, the California State University and the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, with other agencies involved in education, such as the California Postsecondary Education Commission; and directly with the community colleges. Specific program and/or grant implementation areas include Transfer, Articulation, Career Advancement Academies, MESA, Middle College High School, Teacher Preparation Pipeline, Troops to College, and intersegmental efforts to increase the number math and science teachers in California. |
