José
Millan
Vice Chancellor
José Millan was appointed by Governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Vice Chancellor on December 23, 2005.
In this capacity, he oversees the programs within the Economic
Development and Workforce Preparation Division. José
brings a tremendous amount of expertise and knowledge of economic
development and employment issues to this new position, having
previously served as California's State Labor Commissioner,
Assistant Director for Human Resources for Cabrillo College
in Santa Cruz, California, and as Equal Employment Opportunity
Program Manager for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
in Berkeley, California. José is a strong proponent
of education and training as the key factor in developing
a well-trained, professional workforce to meet California's
current and future needs, having developed and taught certificate
training programs for Farm Labor Contractors, and Labor Compliance
Officers with Fresno City College's Training Institute.
José hails from Los Angeles, California,
where he attended Pitzer College, receiving his B.A. in History
in 1977. He went on to attend the School for International
Training in Brattleboro, Vermont, where he received his Master's
degree in Management in 1981. José also holds a Juris
Doctor degree from the University of Houston, where he graduated
from the College of Law in 1985.
